U15 and U12 Fire teams in finals at Bigfoot and U11 in Semis!
by posted 08/29/2010

Both the BU 12 and BU 15 teams made it into the finals of the Bigfoot
Tournament.  The BU 12 team- Fenty fought hard all four days and their shear
aggressive hard nosed play propelled them into the finals where they fell
behind 2 to 0 by half time.  Again, the boys fought back hard and ended the
final in a 2-2 tie and eventually lost in the shootout by one PK.

The BU 15 team- Zaldivar really played outstanding team soccer and avenged a loss to
the Crossfire Select, that defeated them in the final of the Crossfire
Select tournament earlier in the summer, on their way to the finals.  The
team battle hard and ended regulation time tied 0-0 and felt confident going
into PKs to decide the championship.  In a heart breaker, the fire dropped
the overtime shootout on the last PK, settling for second place.

The BU11 team- Slife, made it to the Semi-Finals where they got knocked out by the eventual champs, FC Alliance.  The most exciting game was their 3rd game against the eventual 2nd place team, where they exchanged goals back and forth, before they eventually edged out Washington Rush 4-3 in a nailbiter.

Great job to all the Fire teams!!!! We are so proud of you!

Boys U14 make it to Rainer Challenge Semi-Finals!!!
by posted 08/15/2010

The Wenatchee Fire Boys U14- Hurt made it to the Semi-Finals of the Rainer Challenge Tournament August 13-15.  The Fire came in 2nd place in the group stage, defeating Harbor FC 4-2, tying GRFC 96 2-2, and losing to the eventual champs, Washington Premier- Black.  In a tournament with a handful of the top teams in the state, Wenatchee Fire battled a tough competitor that is also from Eastern Washington, Sun City Strikers-Kallis.  The Fire played SCS two months ago and was soundly defeated, but in the Semi-Final match, they rallied from being 2-0 down at half to tie the game at 3-3 with 15 minutes to go in the match.  The Fire had 6 narrowly missing shots on goal in the second half and put a ton of pressure on the SCS.  With 6 minutes to go, SCS scored the game winning goal, got two more goals in the final minute, when the Fire pushed up to try to equalize and the SCS won 6-3 and moved on the championship.  It was a hard fought battle, and the Fire showed tremendous growth from the beginning of the tournament to the end.  Way to go Fire 96 boys!
