Coaches Corner
Summer Tournaments
Advice for picking summer tournaments:
-
talk to other Fire coaches- Try to go to the same tournament with at least one coach. It's nice to have other teams cheering you on and feeling the comraderie of seeing someone from the club
-
pick 2-3 tournaments for the summer- try to pick about 1 a month
-
make sure to give your team some time off in the summer
-
pick a sanctioned tournment from the state- anybody can create a tournament, but the state sanctions the better organized ones
-
get advice from some of us who have been to a lot of tournaments- ask Rich, Chad, or Brock for advice on "appropriate" tournaments for your skill level. Some touranments you want to build confidence and some you want seriuos challenge
-
notice the high level of competition- make sure your kids see the talent around the state. It's important for them to understand how good teams are
-
have fun! Tournaments are a blast and a great opportunity for your team to bond. Use every game as a chance for your kids to learn about themselves and the game.
